Experience the best of the West Coast
Beautiful landscapes, impressive wildlife and amazing wines: On a tour along the West Coast you can experience all of this within a 150 km radius around Cape Town in five Days. Drive up to the West Coast National Park that provides beautiful lagoons, blooming flowers in spring and migratory birds in summer. Try some of the best South African beverages in the valley of wines and roses combined with award-winning food creations. Spot the impressive whales that visit charming Hermanus with their calves before you head to a unique accommodation overlooking a beautiful lake.
Day 1 & 2 PaternosterThe beautiful West Coast National Park, your first stop, reaches over 30’000 hectares and hosts over 250 different species of birds. Being there in southern summer, you’ll even be able to spot the migratory birds escaping northern winter – a magnificent spectacle, when up to 100’000 birds visit the lagoon. If you want to experience more of the beautiful African fauna you can book a Game Drive on your way up to the National Park (not in price included. Info: www.buffelsfontein.co.za) or otherwise visit the Khwa ttu centre to find out more about the San culture. You’ll spend the next two nights in the little fishermen’s village Paternoster north of the National Park. Use your days hiking in the park, swimming in the turquoise blue water of Kraalbaai or enjoying the nice and quiet location.
Day 3 Winelands
After the National Park you’ll drive through Western Capes heart land on your way to the wine lands. You’ll spend the next night in a beautiful wine and guest farm with an award-winning restaurant, located among the majestic Langeberg hills.
Day 4 Hermanus
In Hermanus, your next stop, you’ll be able to watch the magnificent whales visiting the Walker Bay between July and November. You can either spot them on a boat tour or even from the coast – the marine mammals tend to get very close to the cliffs. But even if you’re not visiting Hermanus during whale season you can still enjoy this charming village with its beautiful promenade, welcoming boutiques and quality restaurants.
Day 5 Elgin Valley
You’ll spend the end of the trip in a unique accommodation in the Elgin Valley, a beautiful landscape. Ringed by mountains, its green rolling hills are a tapestry of orchards, vineyards and olive groves. Located at a little lake you’ll sleep in American trailers that have been customized by different local artists. Every one of them provided with its own terrace you can enjoy the sunset with a nice glass of wine before you head back to Cape Town.
